We went up to Bretton Woods for a winter weekend getaway and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The house was clean, modern, and perfect for the 4 of us (although it could have easily fit 8 people and still felt spacious). Charles was a great host and very responsive to my emails/texts. He checked in to make sure we arrived safely and answered all questions very quickly. There's even a booklet on the counter that has info for everything you might possibly want to know (nearest grocery stores, favorite restaurants, instruction manuals, etc). We felt very well taken care of our entire stay. The heated floors, fully stocked kitchen, multiple bathrooms, multi-room sound system, and fireplace were all greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this place and hope to be back soon!

As soon as we walked into this immaculate home, our entire family was impressed with the layout, cleanliness, open, airy concept and design. The weekend was better than we anticipated because of our stay here and Hemlock’s location.

We recently stayed for a long weekend and loved the house! There were many pleasant surprises--the kitchen had everything we needed, the house was warmed up for us before we arrived and there is a high end Mac available for guests' use. Charles was an excellent host-- he was very responsive, had great local advice, and took care of shoveling the driveway as soon as the snow stopped. Location is ideal and views are amazing. We would highly recommend renting and hope to return!

First Class is the best and most accurate way to describe Charles and his home. The selfish part of me wanted to neglect to respond to this review as once the word gets out as to how fantastic this residence is then it will be that much more difficult to book it in the future due to lack of availability, but the experience was so incredible that I wanted to take the time to ensure anyone reading this understands the positive significance of deciding to stay at this place in lieu of the many other options out there. As a Floridian, being in New Hampshire with negative temperatures was a concern - until we arrived at the home. The description underestimates the qualities of this house. The house was spotless, amenities were unbelievable, the help and suggestions by Charles were great, the house has hot water on demand, modern technology, and heated floors...yes I said heated floors - enough said!!!

I recently spent a long Columbus Day weekend at Hemlock House with my wife, 70ish parents and two adolescent daughters. We could not have been happier with our choice. The house was clean, bright, comfortable and fully equipped with virtually everything we could have needed. We loved the open kitchen with its long counter and big family dining table. The tall living room with its expansive windows made us forget about a few rainy days--we felt like we were outside. And what is better in the mountains than a functional mud room? We made full use of the ample amenities at the Mount Washington Hotel, just a short walk or shorter shuttle ride away. Most of all, we appreciate how prompt and responsive Charles was to our every question and need, which ran the gamut from the practical (nearby kid activities) to the esoteric (best road cycling routes). We loved our stay at Hemlock House and look forward to coming back!

If you are looking for a little bit of a sanctuary like my husband and I were, this is the place for you. Gorgeous setting, excellent accommodations and fully equipped kitchen. The 3 full bathrooms were a bonus while traveling with teenagers. Excellent communication with the owner, as well as he had an endless amount of suggestions of 'things to do'. Another bonus is you are 2 minutes from the Mt. Washington Hotel - loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine while taking in the view. Cheers - until next time!

We really enjoyed our vacation at the Hemlock House. The house was exactly as pictured on VRBO. It was very clean and well appointed. We cooked several meals there and found everything that we needed from the kitchen. Charles was fantastic and provided excellent advice for entertaining our 15 and 10 year old kids. Based on his recommendations, we went to Diana's Baths, Willard Mountain, Echo Lake State Park, Bridal Veil Falls and the canopy Tour at Bretton Woods Activity Center. The house is conveniently located a few minutes from the Mt. Washington Hotel where we had some fabulous meals, spa treatments and enjoyed the view from the porch. Charles also gave us several restaurant suggestions in the area as well. I would absolutely recommend his house for a fun week filled with many adventures.

The area is beautiful and the location of the house is perfect for exploring White Mountain NF.
Charles is a wonderful host and really made us feel he goes out of his way to make sure you're enjoying your time at the house. He will provide you with all the information for activities in the area. He responded quickly to questions before and during our stay.

I took my family of five (kids 13 yrs, 11 yrs, 9 yrs) for our first ski vacation as a family and it worked out perfectly! First off, the house is completely set up for skiing and relaxing. We couldn't get enough of just sitting in the living room and looking out at Mt. Washington with amazing views from both floors - wow! Large mudroom and ski racks outside. Well appointed kitchen and three modern and clean bathrooms - the house is immaculate -- did I say heated floors?! What helped make the vacation extra special were the amenities and convenience that come with the house - most importantly, access to the Omni Mt. Washington shuttles which take you right to the slopes with hardly any wait at all - just call them and they show up at your door. No need to get in your car to ski or deal with parking issues. We also used the shuttle to go and hang out at the Mt. Washington Hotel for dinner or drinks - no driving after a cocktail. There is a game-room for the kids, great restaurants, coffee shop, stores, great hot chocolate. One day we didn't ski but rather went tubing at the hotel which was a blast. They've got X-Country skiing as well as fat-tire mountain biking, snow shoeing, etc.
I went into this vacation excited but worried about the hassles that skiing can bring to a family with three new skiers - it was not a problem at all. The Ski-School lift at Bretton Woods was great to spend time on until the kids were ready to tackle other parts of the mountain. We also felt comfortable giving the kids some breathing room so they felt like they were skiing independently. The entire Bretton Woods/Omni Mt. Washington area combined with this exceptional house made this a memorable experience for us - can't say enough good things.
This house worked perfectly for our family ski getaway with 7 adults and one baby! The shuttle to/from the mountain is so convenient for the skiers and everyone else was happy to hangout at the house and visit the hotel during the day. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this house to others visiting the Bretton Woods area!

My family and our best friends stayed at Charle's home for the week leading up to New Years day. We had a wonderful time in the comfort of his home. The view of Mt Washington and the Presidentials is just amazing. You can stand in the driveway and capture postcard worthy memories. Charles provided everything we needed at the house, as well as tips and guidance along the way. We were fortunate to have an 18"+ snowstorm which lead to amazing ski conditions. Comfort, style and convenience plus fireworks at the grand hotel to ring in the new year. This was a great place to spend the holiday.
